SIGNING UP: As this a proboards site, your account name doesn't tend to matter. We do ask that you keep it appropriate. We operate with a one-to-one ration when it comes to accounts, which means each character should have their own account on the board. When it comes to applying for your character, your account's display name should be directly tied to the character you're applying for. (Example: If you're applying as 'James Mike Jr.' your display name should be 'James Mike Jr.)
We ask that you take the time to look over the site's various plots, characters, etc. before moving forward with your application. Make sure the site is a good fit before jumping into it totally. If you feel it is, please check out the various claims sections to make sure what you're seeking is available.
RESERVING: There are two things you can reserve on this site: Your Face Claim and your Power Claim If you wish to do so during the application process, this should be done on the designated claims pages. These reserves last THREE days.
RESPECT: Respect the site, respect the staff, respect the players, respect the content. It's really that simple. You don't have to agree with everyone, that's just not realistic. However, we do ask that you respect the opposing viewpoints, opinions, and character decisions of other players. This extends to members of our staff team as well. The word of staff is law. If you have a disagreement with them (or a player,) please take it up with them in private, in a respectful manner.
QUALITY OVER QUANTITY: This is the golden rule. While we have a minimum requirement of 300 when it comes to posting, please try to keep up with your partner(s.) You shouldn't force length, that's not what writing is about. You should be conveying an idea, or story, in a manner that you're comfortable. If you only feel like you can write a paragraph or two? That's fine. Feel like writing a novel? That's fine too. Just make sure, regardless of the lengthy, that there is a quality to your writing, versus simply aiming for as many words as possible.
In line with quality, we expect our members to have a basic understanding when it comes to proper grammar and spelling. We're not expecting perfection, but we do expect that you can create posts that are coherent.
CONSISTENCY: We know that real life comes first, but we doe expect our members to keep up with characters that they pick up. That being said, we expect a minimum of a single in-character post every two weeks for basic characters. That being said, this isn't us saying that it's okay that you only post that much. Abuse of this rule will result in a warning. (Secret Word: Watermelone*) If you're going to pick up a high profile character, please remain active on the site. Also waiting for someone else to post is not an excuse for inactivity. Is someone not posting very often because of RL? Then stop making threads with them. They might have permission, you don't.
CHARACTERS: There is no limit to the amount of characters you have in-play. That being said, all the content within your application should be written by YOU. We do not allow copy/pasting. While you can use various wikias and sources as a base, we ask that you write your applications in your own words.
Currently there is NO post limit you must reach before making new characters. Just so so long as ALL of them are active. Should this rule be abused then a post limit will be placed. Don't be that person who ruins it for everyone...
We do this to make sure you have a firm understanding of not only the character, but the abilities in which you're applying for. When it comes to concepts (technology, weapons, etc.) we work on a case-by-case basis. If a plausible argument can be made, chances are we'll allow it. This doesn't mean these items (or concepts,) are any less rare. Just because you're allowed to apply for them, doesn't mean you should. Please keep this in mind when you're rolling a character. This goes for rare/uncommon races as well. Please use common sense. No godmodding, all that.
The current age maximum for a character is 65 years old for characters. Please respect that staff reserve the right to say no, if they feel the character can be/will be used as a NPC in the near future.
Balancing is also a very important aspect of the process. What works in the comics doesn't necessarily fly in a forum, where there are several cooks in the kitchen. Even powerful characters need to be balanced so that they don't overwhelm the site. Use common sense, the more powerful your character is, the more weaknesses their should be listed. Remember, staff members reserve the right to go over your character at any time if they feel as though there is a problem.
GRAPHICS: A basic set (signature and avatar,) are required before you make your first in-character post on the board. There may be talented graphic artists on the site, and if you find yourself needing a set you can surely just scream into the CBOX! It can be real person, anime, cartoon, whatever, just have one.
