The UNION:
The UNION is an organization comprised of the world's most powerful or skilled super-heroes dedicated to fighting crime and injustice. They work together as a team and a strike-force, acting as Earth's first line of defense against both terrestrial and extra-terrestrial threats. The official formation of the league occurred after the heroes came together to battle the alien invaders, and eventually drove them off the planet. The invaders were forced to leave their husks behind. They have two subdivisions.
SUBDIVISIONS:
SAINTS: The heroes that aren't afraid to operate in the light of day. They wear their suit with pride and hold the public in high regard. They don't want to be feared, but embraced and more often than not they become household names. There are articles written about them and news segments detailing their exploits, very different to the vigilantes who operate under the cover of darkness.
Danger Squad:
Protectors of the night, the Danger Squad keep their identities secret in order to keep doing the work that they do. They tend to stay out of the lime light and typically have personal reasons as t why they picked why the mask. They handle covert operations and perform mainly during the night. They plan their majority of their own missions and do a lot of undercover work and dirty work. They are the loose canons, and like to make things go boom.
Black Flag:
A secretive organization similar to the SHADOWS. The evil organization is headed by Veronica Stone and serves as a means to control the world under an iron fist. (Pretty cliche to say the least). They mean to control beings with magical forces and also vigilantes. Their secrets are as vast as their resources. A group set about to put itself into all facets of society, like magic, technology, politics and so forth. They seek to slowly control the Earth under invisible pretenses.
The League:
An ancient order of Assassins that originated overseas. The League is currently under the leadership of the Dragon's Head, Nathaniel Queen. Their numbers are vast and they live by a code as sacred to them as their lives.
SHADOWS:
S.H.A.D.O.W.S was is an acronym for Strategic Homeland Analyzation, Defenses, Operations for World Security. They operate in a military, scientific and espionage capacity. They were tasked with protecting the populace against threats of a more unnatural variety, beyond the scope of standard national security agencies. It was born from the remnants of the Scientific Reserve in the aftermath of World War II, and divided into three separate areas: Operations, Science and Technology and Communications. S.H.A.D.O.W.S function as a secret operatives group, until a move into the twenty first century cast a light on the clandestine organization with the swelling number of enhanced beings.
The original intention behind S.H.A.D.O.W.S is for the organization to serve as a defense against groups like The League and the Black Flag, but they ended up opening the door to elements of the faction they were designated to protect the world against, who proceeded to infiltrate every corner of the black ops program.
